Scientific Support Active City
To obtain scientifically valid data on the physical activity and exercise habits of the population of Hamburg, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (Department for Interior and Sport & Department of Science) has commissioned the University of Hamburg to provide scientific support for the "Active City" strategy.
"With this project, we have initiated an interdepartmental and cross-responsibility collaboration that is intended to be further developed in the future to continuously analyze and report on physical activity in the city. The results presented in the first physical activity report indicate that Hamburg indeed seems to be an 'Active City.' However, it also reveals which groups would particularly benefit from future initiatives aimed at promoting physical activity."
Based on insights gained into the physical activity and health behaviors of the people of Hamburg, recommendations for action are derived for political planning as well as other actors involved in promoting physical activity.
